The Chippewas Of Nawash Unceded First Nation
The Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation occupies Neyaashiinigmiing, also known as Aboriginal Reserve No.27 on the east shore of the Saugeen (Bruce) Peninsula on Georgian Bay. The nation is named after former Chief Nawash, who fought beside Tecumseh in the war of 1812. The present land base is 63.81 km2. The community is approximately 26 km from Wiarton, 64 km from Owen Sound, and 250km from Toronto. This website is a platform for our local governance to communicate with the Band membership, and a resource portal for issues of the Saugeen Ojibway, including joint resource management, fisheries and land claims.
In this challenging period, Chief, Council and Band governance understand how important it is for us to keep the community informed about the pandemic and our efforts to keep the community safe. We will post news, updates and instructions here as frequently as necessary. Please check back often.
