How the Wellness Centre Can Help
Our Vision Statement
Kina Waa Noojmojig Nanaweing Wellness Centre will provide professional, inclusive, safe and holistic services for individuals seeking Mino Bimaadziwin (Good Life).
Kina Waa Noojmojig Nanaweing Wellness Centre offers mainstream and traditional holistic approaches. We believe that everyone is unique! Wellness counsellors are here to offer support that meets the needs of Chippewas of Nawash membership and their families within the local community, including counseling, advocacy, education, programming and cultural activities. Our aim is to assist in reducing the effects of violence and offer support for mental health and social issues that result when violence is present. We design service plans and dedicated programming for all members of this community including men, women, children and youth, elders, and even entire families.
In our supportive and safe environment, we host group services, run prevention and awareness campaigns and service the community with traditional and mainstream wellness practices. Kina Waa Noojmojig Nanaweing bases service plans on the medicine wheel teaching of physical, emotional, spiritual and mental balance, and utilizes a holistic approach to healing, ensuring that the needs of all clients are being met. This includes community members who struggle with addictions, sometimes by pairing with other addiction prevention and treatment programs within the community.
Counselling services are offered for individuals and families who are experiencing difficulty dealing with the challenges of everyday living. The Wellness Centre can help improve your quality of life with information and support on any of the following topics:
- Mental Health
- Addictions
- Trauma
- Domestic/Family Violence
- Crisis/Critical incident debriefing
- Grief & Bereavement
- Depression
- Anxiety/Panic/PTSD
- Intergenerational Trauma
- Or any feeling or Issue that you feel is preventing you from living a fulfilling and meaningful life.
What is Counselling?
Counselling is a process of talking, sharing and feeling that empowers individuals to take back control of their lives. Counselling allows people to work through issues and struggles that have caused them to lose self-esteem or confidence in their own abilities. Counselling increases a person's awareness and sense of well-being. It is often the first step individuals take on their path to discovering a more positive life.
While Wellness Centre staff are well-trained, sometimes a client or counselor identifies a service that cannot be offered through the Center. In this case, we work to find other supports or resources that can help. Referrals to other agencies are always done with your permission and support.
